Aggregate Recycling Corporation's woodwaste and construction materials recycling facility opened in 2002 to meet the growing need for recycling alternatives to landfill dependency. All materials (bark mulches, recycled chips, recyclable materials) are maintained separately at the facility's 25 acre site.
Materials received at the facility include:
- Mixed Construction & Demolition Materials
- Demolition Woodwaste
- Construction Woodwaste
- Wood Pallets
- Stumps and Tree waste
- Asphalt Shingles
- Concrete & Brick
- Telephone Poles & Railroad Ties
- Pressure-Treated Wood
- Raw Bark
Processing:
Recyclable woodwaste materials are off loaded and inspected on a 10,000 square foot concrete tipping pad prior to processing into marketable products. Construction & demolition woodwaste and pallets are processed into boiler fuel chips; asphalt shingles are ground into base course paving material. Concrete and brick is sized using a mobile crusher.
All natural wood materials are processed separately into various grades of mulch and erosion control products. ARC's facility provides an alternative to restrictions on burn piles and burial for stumps and brush. Raw bark is processed by ARC's high-speed mulch producing grinder. Mobile Site Grinding Services:
ARC's wood grinding equipment is entirely mobile and available to go to your site. Contact ARC regarding municipal woodpiles, stump clearing/grinding, etc.
Creating Energy From Woodwaste
With the recent record-setting prices for home heating oil, fuel and petroleum products of all kinds, the benefits of and demand for waste-wood for biomass boiler fuel ("green energy") have never been greater.
Did you know that recycled waste-wood (non-pressure-treated construction wood which would otherwise be landfilled) has a higher BTU value (7,380 BTU/lb.) than "green wood" and whole tree chips (4,500 BTU/lb.)? At this rate, an energy producing boiler would need to purchase and burn 64% additional "green wood" to produce an equivalent BTU value gained from utilizing waste-wood!
LEED Program
ARC is pleased to participate in the national LEED Green Building Rating System, as established by the U.S. Green Building Council. LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a voluntary, consensus-based standard for constructing efficient and sustainable "green" buildings, and for deconstructing and recycling materials generated from renovations or demolition.
